Why do women apologize for so much when they have done nothing wrong?

April 22, 2018

I’ve been doing a lot of studying about the power of the mind. I have enjoyed so much learning that I have so much more control over myself, my life, my actions, my destiny - with just the proper management of my thoughts. I have become a student of Abraham Hicks, Jess Lively, Brooke Castillo, Stacey Smith, etc. and have slowly been implementing new habits into my day. I can’t believe how amazingly powerful this mindset shift has been so far. I feel so much more on purpose and incredibly excited about the future and what will unfold.

Getting into flow (or raising my vibe) has become easier because I’ve identified various activities that help me to get there. Yoga, taking a short nap, listening to my favorite playlist, etc. However, it’s so obvious to me that I am still a novice as I fall out and into old habits (i.e. thoughts) so quickly! I am working hard right now to shorten the span between falling out of flow, identifying where I am and finding a way to correct it.

It takes a lot o...

I have been listening and following Jess Lively for a few years now and periodically she does a podcast on The Lively Show about what she’s afraid to tell her followers. I love this and how it inspires others that follow her to do the same, which is what I am going to do today. I’ve definitely felt like I’ve been holding back and have felt disconnected because of it. So, here goes …

I’ve been drinking more alcohol than normal. I’ve gotten into a routine of a drink, maybe two, per day. Some times social and other times buffering for stress (another post on buffering coming soon). Do I think I have a problem? Nope. But, it’s a habit that I don’t want to keep because I know it does not serve my overall health and well-being.

I’m chubby. I have gained 10 pounds (4.5 kilos) since January and I am packing some additional junk in the trunk (and belly, boobies, arms, face…). The cool thing is, I’ve changed my mindset with this. Previously, I would have berated myself into oblivion over we...

There’s a reason why they say moving is one of the most stressful experiences in life. Add to it being international, it’s totally party time. We are at the tail end of moving from Dubai, UAE to London, UK with a 2 month layover in Spain.

If you know me, you know there is something called “Danielle Time”. My timeline is (typically) faster than others and I get frustrated when others don’t comply. If you want proof, ask my husband.

Partner that with the fact that this move is kicking my ass. 2+ months of being in transition and now I’m finally here - ready to rock and roll!

Here we are ... Day 3. I’ve bought a car, had our shit delivered from Dubai, signed a contract for a new gig (more on that later), terrorized the property manager to fix shit, set various appointments for more admin/burocratic processes, bought beds, bought a dryer and millions of other random things one needs to set up a house.

Today I spent 3 hours trying to get a cup of coffee. The coffee maker that came with the hou...

It’s pretty mainstream knowledge that some of the main components to optimal wellness are exercise, meditation, rest and great nutrition. Did you know there is another HGUE aspect that many of us are leaving out on a daily basis?

Doing nothing. That is it. So simple - do absolutely nothing. Downtime. This does not mean watching The Bachelor, relaxing and listening to a podcast or reading a book. This is time free of screen or audio. Just sit and allow yourself to be with your thoughts.

But, what exactly does this look like? It could be you sitting on your back porch with a cup of tea for 15-30 minutes. Going to your favorite spot at the beach and watching and listening to the waves for a bit. Even gardening, walking through the forest or other tasks that are not demanding of you mentally.

Why is this so important? We are constantly using our brain and not giving it the deserved downtime it needs. Even though we treat it like a machine, it is not.

In basic terms, the brain has two modes: A...

Craving something sweet? Wait until you see this amazingly delicious and yummy recipe for vegan hazelnut brownies below.

But first, let's talk a bit about food prep and cravings.

When I have a hankering for a sweet, I try to prepare my own dessert as it truly helps for so many reasons.

When you have to prepare your own food, you are prone to create something super elaborate and/or unhealthy.  It has to do with the delayed gratification that seems to help cut down on the craving. In my case, when am the one to put it all together AND clean up the mess, I will either not make it or potentially simplify to something else.

Additionally, when you prepare your own food you visually witness how much sugar, butter, oil, salt, etc. is going into the finished product and I also believe that must help the brain to register portion control. (This is a non-scientific assumption on my part, by the way!)

Lastly but pertaining to the above, you have control over what is put in, can...

It is such a buzz word.

I am inspired. You inspire me. That was so inspirational.

What exactly is inspiration?

For me, inspiration is linked to motivation and action. If I am motivated and ready for action, then it translates into inspiration. Not sure how precisely the math works - inspiration + action = motivation or is it action + motivation = inspiration or ...? Either way, speaking for myself, these are the components to my personal inspiration equation.

What happens when there is no inspiration? Does it mean that also action and motivation are gone? If they are all three missing - what is the status?

Recently, I’ve felt myself without a lot of inspiration for things in life that I truly enjoy so much so that I make the time for them on a regular basis. Such as cooking, working out, practicing yoga, etc. I don’t want to call this a slump because I’ve been firing in so many other areas in my life such as this whole entrepreneurial gig and I have not totally sucked as a mom...

How to make an easy and delicious plant-based avocado dressing.

January 29, 2017

This "pate" is an amazing plant-based alternative to the real pate or other unhealthy dips or spreads. It is hearty, satisfying, delicious and filling. It's also full of good stuff like omega-3s, they promote anti-inflammation, heart and brain healthy properties, etc. etc. They also will help fill you up AND satisfy you.

The recipe calls for liquid aminos but if you can't find that or don't have it, no sweat - just use tamari sauce (or even plain sea salt).

1. 2 cups raw walnuts
2. 1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes (if dry, pre-soak for 15 minutes in hot water)

3. 1/4 cup olive oil

4. 1 tsp Liquid Aminos (or tamari sauce or sea salt, to taste)
5. 1 tsp onion powder
6. 1 tsp garlic powder
7. 2 TB basil
8. 1/2 tsp cumin

9. 1/4 cup water

  1. Measure and assemble all ingredients in the food processor.

  2. Pulse until well-combined to your preferred texture. (I like mine a bit rougher than hummus texture.)

  3. Enjoy with crackers, raw veg, as a sandwich spread or as a fi...
