OST #1: Peas Out

What is One Simple Thing? It is just a quick message made up of small explanations, lessons or fact nuggets for you to incorporate into your life, share with others or even store away for a later date. My mission is to inspire people to live their healthiest and most naturally biased life. This is another way to do that because we all know that knowledge is power. 

 

Green peas are sooo 2017! Did you know that they ...

  • Are a legume? (Same as beans, lentils, etc.)

  • Are a fantastic source of plant-based protein? (+/- 8 grams/cup)

  • Have phytonutrients for anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits?

  • Are high in fiber, which aids digestion, weight loss and regulates blood sugar.

Obviously, you want to get these guys on your winning team!

 

Below is a quick and easy recipe for peas (pictured).

 

- one teaspoon coconut oil

- one cup green peas (frozen, fresh, etc.)

- 1/8 teaspoon turmeric

- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder 

- sea salt (to taste)

 

Heat coconut oil in pan on medium heat. Add peas and coat with oil. Add spices. Stir and cook for 3-5 minutes. Time depends on if fresh or frozen.  Remove from heat, plate and enjoy.
